"The Great Rough-House War" is a daily Thimble Theatre storyline by E. C. Segar, which ran between May and November 1931. Among the first of Segar's daily storylines to be officially titled during its run, the storyline features several major landmarks in the strip's history, namely the introductions of King Blozo, Oscar and General Bunzo (all of whom would - to varying extents - become recurring characters in the following decades), Castor Oyl's final appearance as a regular lead character (following a decade as one of the strip's main protagonists) and - in the June 26, 1931 strip - the first allusion to spinach as a source of Popeye's strength and nigh-invulnerability.
