Synopsis[]

Swee'Pea meets a starving woman asking for food. The woman turns out to be another one of Wimpy's plans to get a free lunch.

Plot[]

Popeye has to go over to Olive's house so he tells Swee'Pea to order lunch at Rough-House's. When the little guy gets there Rough-House was mad, because Wimpy was in mooching all day. Rough-House gripes about Wimpy as Swee'Pea puts away ten hamburgers and asks for one more to go.

Wimpy had been looking through the cafe window the whole time, thinking of a way to bum a meal. The idea came to him when he saw Swee'Pea walk out with the burger in the paper bag. He runs after Swee'Pea and starts flattering the boy so he can get a free lunch, but Swee'Pea is to smart to be tricked by him.

As Wimpy realizes he needs a new plan, he sees some clothes hanging out to dry. He quickly jumps over the fence into the yard and, a few minutes later, a fat old lady comes back out. The lady follows Swee'Pea then turns down an alley to get ahead of him. She sits down on the curb and waits for him.

When Swee'Pea approaches the old woman, he can hear her crying so he asks if she is lost. The woman says she is hungry and has not eaten anything in six days. Swee'Pea comments that she looks rather plump for someone who is starving. But the lady's words convince Swee'Pea that she needs help.

Swee'Pea starts to hand her the hamburger when he hears someone and sees a policeman running up the street. The officer is with a woman who had her clothes stolen. At that moment, the old woman jumps up off the curb, slips out of the dress and runs away from the cop. Swee'Pea realizes the old woman was Wimpy in disguise to get his burger.
