Synopsis[]

It is a battle of wits as Swee'Pea tries to trick Poopdeck Pappy into telling a story. Poor Pappy has no chance of winning this war.

Plot[]

Swee'Pea was home alone with Poopdeck Pappy as Popeye was out of town. Swee'Pea was bored, so he looked around for Pappy to get him to tell a story. When he found the old man nestled for a nap in his comfy chair, he thought it would not be easy to get a story for the night.

Swee'Pea crawled across the room and started paying the twenty-question game to catch his Pappy off guard. Poopdeck knew the trick and tried to answer the questions carefully so he would not get suckered into telling a story. As hard as he tried, Swee'Pea said all the right things to get what he wanted.

In no time at all, Pappy was telling how he was captured by bandits in Persia. They made him stand on a pole over a pit of tigers for a week without sleep. He was only able to save himself by falling asleep on the sixth day. He explained that he started walking in his sleep, climbed down the pole, rode a tiger to the harbor and sailed away.

Later, as Swee'Pea crawled out of the room, Poopdeck was proud of himself for getting off without telling a story. However, Swee'Pea had a smile on his face as he crawled away because he was able to trick another story out of his old Pappy.
