Character history[]
Creation and development in Thimble Theatre[]
Bullo Oxheart was created by E. C. Segar for the 1933 Thimble Theatre comic strip "Popeye Fights Bullo Oxheart". In said strip, he and Popeye faced off in a boxing match.
Popeye's first movie[]
In the 1980 live-action Popeye film, Bullo Oxheart returned under the name "Oxblood Oxheart", as one of the secondary antagonists in the film alongside his mother once again. He was portrayed by Peter Bray. In the film, he is a resident of Sweethaven usually seen alongside his mother, who hosted a boxing match to prove his might in town and, if anyone could beat him, they would win a hefty sum of prize money. Castor Oyl saw this as an opportunity to earn some money for his now-poverty-stricken family after Bluto and the Tax Collector cleaned them out. However, Castor stood no chance against the big palooka and was easily defeated. Luckily, he was avenged by Popeye who defeated the tall brute and earned the much needed money for the family.
Video games[]
Ox appears as an enemy in the video game Popeye: Ijiwaru Majo Seahag no Maki.
