Mr. Chizzelflint is a character created by E. C. Segar in 1936, appearing in his comic strip Thimble Theatre (in the storyline "Eugene, the Jeep"). Wealthy and ambitious, Mr. Chizzelflint had the goal of obtaining Eugene the Jeep from Olive Oyl in order to control the magic animal's powers, and would use all of his resources to achieve this goal. This led him to plot against Popeye. Mr. Chizzelflint is in such ways similar to earlier character Mr. Fadewell, a millionaire who was after the magic animal Bernice the Whiffle Hen.
Mr. Chizzelflint also appeared in the 1980 live-action film Popeye, although his role was very minor and he was made to be Sweethaven's pawnbroker, an inoffensive character. Known simply as "Chizzelflint", he was played by actor Wayne Robson.
