Krentz is a living piece of limburger cheese and the captain of the royal guard of the Moon, who appeared in the 1960 Popeye the Sailor episode "Hits and Missiles".

As a limburger cheese-person, he and his fellow limburgers must always keep their bodies under glass domes, as their smell is so rancid it can knock out anyone around them instantly, making their kind very effective guards despite their small size.

After Popeye, Olive and Wimpy land on the Moon in an experimental rocket, they are captured by Krentz who takes them to the Big Cheese's castle, where the latter has the humans locked up. After escaping the dungeon, Popeye battles it out with the Big Cheese, but the nefarious ruler has Krentz and his guards knock Popeye out with their noxious smell. Before completely passing out, Popeye eats his spinach, proceeding to punch the king into bits of cheese which run away in terror. After the Moon is freed from the evil king's reign, it is unknown what happens to Krentz and his fellow guards.

Trivia

Krentz' name comes from Liederkranz cheese.
- Popeye even makes a pun based on this when he says "Take me to your leader Krentz".
