Fleets of Stren'th (released on March 13, 1942) is Popeye's 104th cartoon, produced by Fleischer Studios.
Plot[]
While on Navy service during World War II, Popeye's unconventional torpedo-loading technique gets him a mild punishment: he is ordered to stand at attention. Just then, the enemy attacks. He remains at attention, even as a bomb throws him to the top of the mast, where his commander finally notices and orders him to get the planes. Popeye fires on them, but this only draws return fire. He eats his spinach, then turns into a plane himself and attacks.
Trivia[]
- Third and final appearance of Popeye's Navy commander.
- When Popeye sings his theme at the end, instead of tooting his pipe twice, he toots it four times, doing the V for victory. He would do this again in Spinach Fer Britain.
