Lummox is a Thimble Theatre character created by Tom Sims and Bela Zaboly in 1948. First presented by explorer Mr. Zeero as "the Iceman from Iceland" ("frozen for centuries, centuries, centuries, centuries and centuries"), Lummox was shown to be a large, strong specimen akin to Toar and was likewise added to Popeye's ever-growing circle of friends. Unlike Toar, though, Lummox turned out to be a quiet, gentle giant without a great propensity for violence.
