Dora Paskel (1872 - 1953) was a real-life person from E. C. Segar's home town of Chester, Illinois who (like Frank "Rocky" Fiegel and J. William Schuchert) inspired a Thimble Theatre character. In this case, Olive Oyl.

Ms. Paskel owned a general store in Chester. She is said to have dressed in a similar fashion to Olive and was likewise tall and thin.

Her gravestone now bears an engraving of Olive Oyl's face.
